Keep him moving north and south and you got a dangerous scoring threat. Silky mitts

Dude has unbelievable skill. I think the concussions have slowed his ability to process the game a little bit, but that said, he should still be able to score 20 goals.

The last two years, he's looked a little bit lost, which could also have been Bylsma's system.

Expect highlight-reel plays and infuriating off sides

This is exactly like when you got Pommer. Ennis doesn't quit.

This is exactly like when you got Pommer. Ennis doesn't quit and Foligno has his breakout year.

All along I have been saying that Ennis was going to be playing 3rd line minutes, with Foligno on the 4th line...and it sounds like it is just going to be just the opposite. While Foligno will get more ice team playing 3rd line (probably with Eriksson Ek and Coyle), but Ennis will probably get 2nd unit PP time. So if the Wild can get 18-23 goals from Ennis in that role, they should be sitting pretty good.

The Wild have some crazy forward depth now. They also have solid D and a good goalie. They could make a big run at it this year...

Ennis was one of my 3 favorite Sabres the last 10 years. Great character and he gives it his all. Can dash in and out of areas fast and plays the give-n-go well. Look for highlight reel goals as well as Foligno. They don't score a ton but when they do it's usually pretty. I hope this kid has a big bounce back in his career. Loved him in Medicine Hat as well.

I agree with this. Totally forgot about how often he went offside on play haha. He does score highlight reels though

Sabres fan here. I truly hope he is fully recovered and gets his career going in the right direction. Always puts in the effort and can pop in 20g 30a.

Foligno is the one I will miss the most. He is cursed with unrealistic expectations in Buffalo based on his father/brother. He can throw with anyone, pop in 15g and is a good guy in general. That was the true asset you attained for Scandella (and Pominville).

Yeah, I truly hope these two surprise everyone here, including myself. However, that trade is still hard to swallow for me. Ennis's numbers have tanked since his concussion issues. We also had a small, super skilled forward who put up solid numbers before his career went south and stayed south also due to concussion issues; Pierre-Marc Bouchard. Foligno scored most of those 15 goals on a line with Eichel, correct me if I'm mistaken, which means that he was getting a lot of top 6 ice time. He definitely won't be getting that here, barring major injuries. I love his size and his willingness to drop the gloves, but I'm not holding my breathe for him to repeat those numbers here. Heading into this season we still have good depth but we lost a good chunk of experience and guaranteed production. For a team that's in "Win Now" mode, that's a little concerning.

I think you're getting that from Russo, which I also read. Ennis on the 4th line, even with PP time... 18-23 goals sounds like an absolute prayer. The guy hasn't gotten more than 21 in his career and that was probably with regular top 6 ice time AND 1st PP time.

Ennis has the skill but I don't think he has it between his ears and that's not just from his concussions.

He does too much east west movements and his line mates never knew what he was doing.

If you keep him moving north south he could be a 40 point guy.

Foligno on the other hand gives all the effort in the world just doesn't have the skill set. He will be a fan favorite though.

So reading these last few posts, it sounds like I was more correct in playing Ennis on the 3rd line and Foligno on the 4th line. I still believe that losing Pominville is actually addition by subtraction for the Wild. He had become to soft on the boards. Here's hoping for more continued growth from Nino, Granlund, Zucker, and Coyle (and Ennis and Foligno as well now), that makes us all forget that Pominville was once a 30 goal scorer for the Wild.
